About the Role
As the elected Student Representative for Year 2 in the Computer Science and Electronic Engineering (CSEE) department, I proudly serve as a bridge between the student body and faculty. My role goes beyond simply attending meetings — it's about amplifying student voices, advocating for positive change, and helping shape the academic journey of my peers.
In this position, I represent the collective concerns, ideas, and feedback of second-year students in departmental discussions and decision-making processes. Whether it's raising issues related to module delivery, course content, workload balance, or wellbeing support, I make sure every perspective is heard and considered. I regularly liaise with staff members, attend Student-Staff Liaison Committee (SSLC) meetings, and work with both academic and administrative teams to ensure the student experience remains inclusive, enriching, and forward-thinking.
Being a student rep also means promoting collaboration and community. I help organize feedback forums, gather insights from classmates, and create safe spaces for open dialogue. With a focus on transparency and accountability, I strive to keep students informed about changes and updates, and follow up to ensure their concerns lead to action.
Through this volunteer role, I’ve developed key professional skills like leadership, public speaking, conflict resolution, and teamwork — all while making a real difference in the academic environment. It's a role that requires empathy, initiative, and dedication — and it's one I’m proud to take on.
