Child Health & Wellbeing Tracking Application
Developed a child health tracking desktop app with Java, enabling data visualization, PDF reports, and health monitoring for caregivers and healthcare providers.
Role: Backend & Integration Developer
Tech Stack: Java, JavaFX, Swing, JDBC, PostgreSQL, JUnit, JFreeChart, JFreeUnit, iTextPDF, TXT File Storage
This desktop-based application was designed to support parents, guardians, and healthcare professionals in tracking a child’s physical and mental development. It provides a structured platform to monitor parameters such as growth milestones, vaccination history, emotional well-being, and doctor visits.
As the Backend & Integration Developer, I was responsible for:
Developing backend logic in Java and integrating a PostgreSQL database using JDBC
Managing settings and data persistence through TXT file storage
Building responsive user interfaces using JavaFX and Swing
Implementing unit testing for core modules with JUnit and validating chart outputs using JFreeUnit
Creating real-time data visualizations with JFreeChart for health tracking dashboards
Generating comprehensive PDF reports using iTextPDF for sharing health summaries
This project significantly enhanced my skills in Java development, data integration, and software design for healthcare applications while also strengthening my collaboration and Agile workflow experience using tools like Jira.
